Overview

CENTURY is running a cutting edge research project, which has been backed by MIT Solve, focused on the development and assessment of writing skills. The intention of the project is to create an automated marking and feedback tool that mirrors the output of a highly skilled teacher - without adding to teachers’ workload!

We are now accepting applications to be one of our research partner schools in this exciting project!

As a research partner school, your students will complete a creative writing task in June or July and submit this to us via a simple Google form. All submissions will be processed and marked by our tool, which uses AI to analyse and mark the writing as well as provide written feedback.

We would also love for partner schools to share their views on the tool and creative writing assessments in general. There will be optional surveys, focus groups and interviews in June, July and the Autumn.

Benefits of taking part

  • Support Research: Contribute to cutting-edge research on writing skills and be recognised as a research partner (optional anonymity available).

  • Comprehensive Feedback: Receive detailed formative feedback on student writing without any additional marking workload. Complete the task with an entire year group (or even the whole school!) for a clear view of ability across the cohort.
