In this blog post, we continue to delve into CENTURY’s AI, looking at how CENTURY’s AI is different and whether to set work or leave this up to the AI. We also link to some helpful case studies that showcase how different schools and colleges make the most of CENTURY’s AI.

How is CENTURY’s AI different?

Having been at the forefront of AI in education for years, we have accumulated prime data about how learners have interacted with our high-quality, teacher-created learning material and assessment questions.

We use this data to train extremely performative models in house to perform specific tasks, such as predicting a user’s likelihood of answering a question correctly. These models require extremely large datasets to be effectively trained, but CENTURY are in a unique position where we have had over 1 billion questions answered on our platform.  It means we can provide the best recommendations possible.

Should I set work or should I leave it to the AI?

This depends on how you want to use CENTURY. The AI recommends nuggets to support students in mastering a specific topic or to challenge them to deepen their knowledge.

CENTURY’s AI works alongside teachers, supporting them by automating administrative tasks such as setting work and marking and providing insightful data, which can inform their interventions.

If you want all learners to complete the same nugget for homework, we would advise teachers to set nuggets via Assignments . Also, if you would like the recommended nuggets to align to your scheme of work, we would recommend using the Assignments tab to set diagnostics at the start of a new unit, where applicable. This will ensure learners receive personalised recommendations that are linked to what you are studying in class.

How do schools and colleges use our AI?

Luddington and Garthorpe Primary

The integration of AI in the classroom ensures an adaptive learning experience for students and provides teachers with comprehensive insights to inform their judgements.

Weymouth College

The college uses SmartIA to make sure learners are on the right course. Teachers use the data to set targets as well as to help with differentiation in the classroom and reinforcement outside of lessons.
