Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

Macmillan Education and CENTURY have announced a landmark partnership, combining their expertise to support learners and teachers worldwide.
By harnessing Macmillan Education’s heritage in high-quality resource design and CENTURY’s expertise in building innovative technology, the two organisations are uniquely placed to deliver an innovative phonics solution to support pupil progress.
Innovative Technology Meets Proven Pedagogy
Macmillan’s DfE-approved synthetic phonics programme, Snappy Sounds, is now available on the CENTURY platform, providing schools and parents with a fun, fast and reliable phonics series. Created by world-class educators, authors, and speech pathologists, Snappy Sounds is designed to simplify and speed up phonics instruction while building student confidence in reading.
The integrated solution features over 80 e-books that utilise a systematic approach to help children recognise the 44 phonemes of English, and the combination of letters that represent them.
Emma Bourne, Managing Director at Macmillan Education, said:
“We’re delighted to bring Snappy Sounds to CENTURY’s powerful learning platform. This partnership allows us to combine trusted pedagogy with intuitive technology, giving teachers flexible tools to support every learner’s reading journey.”
Tom Thacker, Chief Education Officer at CENTURY, said:
“We are excited to bring our experience in building cutting-edge technology to our partnership with Macmillan Education. By hosting their gold-standard Snappy Sounds programme on the CENTURY platform, we are making high-quality educational tools more accessible to teachers and students.”
About the Collaboration
The partnership introduces the Snappy Sounds decodable readers and phonics lessons on the CENTURY platform. These can be used as part of classroom study or as standalone support to improve reading confidence in an accessible and visually engaging way for all students.
The Snappy Sounds course is available to all CENTURY subscribers from 10th March 2026 for a six-week free trial, ending on 20th April. Teachers can explore the full range of resources on CENTURY to begin planning their lessons.
